U is O's beloved sister. These two beautiful cats were born feral, and scheduled to die in a kill "shelter" when they were about 3 1/2 months old. A wonderful foster agency rescued them, and more than 30 other kittens and cats, and transported them from North Carolina to Massachusetts. Some of the kittens didn't make it, because that is very stressful for a kitten. But O and U did. They were very sick when I got them, and small. At nearly 5 months, U was less than 4 1/2 pounds. Her brother almost didn't make it, which would have been awful, because these are the most bonded, loving cats.
U is still, nearly 3 years later, semi-feral. But she has come so far. And she may be the bravest cat I know. She is SO scared of everything, but she never stops trying; if something scares her away, she will try so hard to come back. I really can't explain it, but she has the bravest little heart I've ever seen. She is afraid of me when I am standing up, but she LOVES me when I'm lying down, and will demand to be let under the covers. Her brother and I love her to pieces, and we would both be lost without her.
