Jaspurr and his littermate Joey joined us in April of 2002, after a several-months-long Kitten Search. My goal was to find a marmelade kitten following the death of our beloved Shannon, our last "Sunshine Boy" at the age of 19 in July of 2001. It was the longest stretch of time we ever were without a ginger cat. I've always thought that Shannon had a paw in sending us Jaspurr. He was an adorable kitten and turned out to be a purrfect cat!
Because our only remaining cat after the loss of Shannon, Bubba, was advancing in years, I convinced my hubby that if we got two kittens, they could keep each other company, thus being less of a distraction to Bubba than if we adopted an older cat. My reasoning worked out well, and Bubba quickly adjusted to both youngsters. It soon became evident though, that Jaspurr was his favorite. Even toward the end of his life, Bubba adored Jaspurr, and willingly ceded his alpha cat status to his protege.
