Giving Thanks for Cats We Have Loved
While Thanksgiving is set aside for giving thanks to the bounties of life, I always include thanks for the many cats who have brought unconditional love and joy into my life. Their memories, and yes, their spirits still serve as inspiration today.Compelling Cases for Souls of Animals
After being taken to task for a comment in an article referring to the soul of animals, I took the subject to my readers in a poll: "Do cats have souls?". Not only did an overwhelming majority vote "Yes," but many of the thoughtful comments to my blog provided resources which backed up my position.
For those of my readers who have lost beloved cats to death, I'm passing on these resources as comfort in the belief that we will see them again in the hereafter.
Quest for the Rainbow Bridge
The story describes a bucolic place "just this side of heaven," where dogs and cats, bunnies and birds, all live peacefully among the gentle meadows and hills, running and cavorting together in the lush green grass. They are all young again, in perfect health, and want for nothing - except the humans they loved. One by one, they wait for us at the Bridge, and when our time comes their eyes light up in indescribable joy as we join them, to cross the Rainbow Bridge together.
