Movies about cats run the gamut: from cartoons, to family films, to educational films. These picks of cat DVDs and videos combine the best of each genre, and most of them will appeal to all ages of cat lovers, from the tender story of Milo and Otis to the raunchy infighting in Cats and Dogs.
1. Cats - Caressing the Tiger (DVD)
This National Geographic special is a must-have for the serious cat lover. It tracks the similarities and differences from mild to wild, and offers captivating intimate views of our every-day domestic kitties, along with unbelievable shots of their big brothers. Anyone who has ever wondered "what makes cats click" will love this film.
3. The Adventures of Milo and Otis (DVD)
Milo and Otis (cat and dog, respectively) are good buddies with a penchant for mischief. They get into trouble when one of them falls into the river, and they are both rushed away to a series of adventures. Japanese filmmaker Masanori Hata was four years in the making of this film, and the panoramic beauty of the scenery adds to the poignancy of the story. Available in both DVD and VHS.
5. The Truth About Cats and Dogs
The cat comes out on the short end of this romantic comedy, but the dog gets plenty of play. Janeane Garofalo and Uma Thurman star as friends-become-rivals for Ben Chaplin. Although some explicit (phone) sex makes it definitely not a family movie, it's a fun flick to watch on a rainy Saturday night with your sweetheart.
