Humane Societies and Shelters

Humane Societies are generally private, non-profit organizations that depend on donations and volunteers for their work in fostering homeless animals. Many of these groups operate "no-kill" shelters, guaranteeing homes for life for the forgotten.

Cat Guardians - IL
A non-profit organization formed to help with the feline overpopulation and homelessness problem in DuPage County, Illinois.
Cat Pack Adoption and Rescue - Ludlow, MA
Located in Ludlow, Mass., the Cat Pack is a non-profit group dedicated to placing healthy cats and kittens into the warm and loving homes that they deserve. They work with volunteer foster homes and also focus on education for responsible pet ownership.
Cats Protection League - UK
The oldest and largest cat charity in the UK with 13 shelters and over 240 voluntary branches, rescuing and placing around 75,000 cats a year.

Southern Florida organization working to educate, control ferals through spay & neuter, and finding homes for the many homeless cats.

In the San Francisco Bay Area, a very active group, acting as a clearing house and teaching humane treatment of animals.
The Conway Area Humane Society (N.H.)
Very active and resourceful humane society located in Conway, New Hampshire. The community has been very positively impressed with this phase, the setting, housing, general ambiance, and especially the over 400 cat adoptions that have been facilitated in these pleasant surroundings.
