From the first moments after birth, the babies know exactly where to go and what to do. It is imperative that they begin to suckle from the first day, as the only nutrition they get during this time is colostrum, which actually is a natural antibody against infant infections and other disorders. It is usually not until the 2nd day that mom's milk is "in," meaning that they are actually getting the benefit of the milk.
At the end of Day 3, the kittens' weights are as follows:
Baby #1 - 4.3 oz.
Baby #2 - 4.7 oz.
Baby #3 - 4.3 oz.
