Cat Memorials and Picture Gallery: Sweet Pea

A Priceless Cat

From Franny Syufy, About.com

Those of us who cringe at disabilities can learn a lesson from cats like Sweet Pea, who don't know they are disabled.

Sweet Pea

Jackie Burrell
Found in a parking lot at two weeks of age, Sweet Pea was bottle fed and thrived. It wasn't until later that I discovered she had no bowel or bladder control. So much in love with her, I thought there has to be a way. I designed an outfit (actually, many adorable ones!) to hold a diaper in place, which was easy as she had no tail.

My vet gave her a short lifespan because of her problem, but Sweet Pea lived nine years, wearing diapers every day. She had no idea that all cats didn't wear diapers or get a bath three times a week and let me tell you, she'd gladly inform you when she packing wet panties!

Someone asked me once if I'd trade her for a million dollars. I wouldn't have traded Sweet Pea for ten million dollars. She gave me more than I ever gave her and it was like losing a child when she passed on. To this day, I carry a fluff of her fur in a locket around my neck. I considered it a true "honor" to care for her.
