London (1 July 2008). A London based cat veterinarian who launched an Internet campaign last week to reunite a lost cat with her family says the situation could have been avoided had the cat's owners kept their microchip information up to date.

Zeta Frasca, veterinarian owner of Kitten to Cat, London's only cat only veterinary clinic, posted pictures and videos of Betsy (as she has been named) on the Internet last week and has been overwhelmed by the response after United Cats, a feline social networking site (think Facebook but for cats), profiled her as "Cat of the Week."

Betsy was living rough on the streets of Richmond, London England when the kind lady who had been feeding her brought her into Kitten to Cats. Betsy has been living there in comparative royalty, loved and pampered by Zeta Fresca, and her staff. What Betsy really wants though is her real home, if not with her original owners, then with a loving adopted mum.

I was first contacted by Simon Hade, who told me about Betsy's plight, and added, "As well as trying to find her owners we're using this story to raise awareness of the importance of owners keeping their microchip information up to date when they move, because if her owners had remembered to do so (it takes 5 minutes!) she would be home now.
