The Final Days

Bubba: Our Once-in-a-Lifetime Cat

Franny Syufy
It is still too painful to detail the final days of Bubba's life here, so I'll be brief. On November 30th, 2005, Bubba sustained an injury to his right forefoot, caused (we thought at the time) by his jumping off our bed after his nightly pilling. A few days later, he suffered a blood clot that caused the complete loss of use of his rear legs. It wasn't long that a family council determined that we should give Bubba our final act of love: helping him find the Rainbow Bridge in peace and dignity. He slid away in my arms on December 6, 2005, purring to the very end.

I know that other cats will come and go in our lives, but there will never, ever be another Bubba. He was a fine cat, a noble cat, and we were blessed by his loving presence for over 18 glorious years.

Sleep softly, big boy.
