Care of a Pregnant Cat

Lesson 1: What to Expect From This Course

By Franny Syufy, About.com

Thank you for Enrolling in Care of a Pregnant Cat

This is Lesson One of seven lessons. The course outline looks like this:

  1. What to Expect From This Course (this lesson)
  2. Mating in Cats
  3. Is She Pregnant?
  4. Care and Feeding of a Pregnant Cat
  5. Delivery Day
  6. Post-Natal Care of the Queen and her Newborns
  7. Rehoming Kittens
Each day for seven days (including today), you will receive an email with at least one link to a pertinent article on the day's topic about pregnant cats. To read the lesson, you simply click on the link. Many of the lessons will contain more than one link.

This course is, for the most part, an informational course. Please do not be surprised to see frequent references to spaying and neutering of cats throughout these lessons. They are not meant to be criticism if your cat was the victim of "accidental pregnancy, but serve as reminders of the importance of spaying her as soon as is practicable. In fact, when taking this course, you should start with a commitment to spay the mother cat as soon as her kittens are weaned.

If for some reason you miss a lesson, you may have it resent by clicking on the "Missing Lesson" link at the bottom of each emailed lesson. If at any time you choose to unsubscribe from the course, there's a link for that purpose too, at the bottom of each lesson.

It's a great, supportive place to ask questions and get solid information from experienced members who have dealt with pregnant cats before.

Don't email me with questions. instead, put your questions on the forum - believe me, you won't be the only one asking that question and you'll get a variety of answers and experiences. Plus, your question will help other members with questions about pregnant cats, now, and in the future.
