oneHow my Cat(s) Reacted to This Product
I mainly feed my cat organic meat (intended for human consumption), but I give her this dry food as a treat if she lets me pet her. I found her outside in a snow storm, dying of starvation and the cold. I took her in, so she was wary of humans, having lived outside for several years.
My Review
I spoke at length with the owner of a small pet food store and he recommended Orijen. The company bills it as "never-frozen, regional ingredients," and I especially like the fact that it has 0% grains, which are not intended for carnivorous animals.
It also contains no GMOs (genetically modified organisms), which is important to me because there are some scientific studies --including those by Dr. Arpad Pusztai which found that lab animals fed GMOs had organ damage-- which might indicate that it's best to stay with natural foods.
The label says it's 75% "free-range chicken and turkey, wild-caught freshwater and saltwater fish and whole eggs" plus 25% "fruits, vegetables and botanicals."
It all sounds good to me. But again, I try to feed my cat organic chicken, turkey and beef as much as possible. But as a treat and for those times when I suddenly run out of meat for her, Orijen seems like a good meal for my cat.
