How I Came to Love Black Cats
Growing up on a farm I had cats of all colors. I love black cats for their beauty but also their charming personalities. My black male cat Cuddles, & he so lived up to his name, all 19 lbs of him was not only affectionate but playful & vocal. In April 2010 I adopted Cubbie at 9 weeks old. He stole my heart from the start! He's not just graceful but incredibly smart, social & very vocal. He just wants to be everyone's friend. On Sunday, I rescued another black kitten someone tossed in the streets, her name is Sophie. In just 4 days she has overcome fear from her ordeal & she's already playing, talking and teasing.
How Black Cats Differ from Other Cats
For me, black cats stand out because they are charmers. They have the most graceful manners and will do just about anything to win your heart. My Cubbie entered our family as if he had always been apart of it. His two older adopted siblings (who were 8 months old) took to him as though he had been born here, shockingly with no hissing or growling at all from any of them. Cubbie is not afraid of anything it seems and he loves to be picked up and snuggled as much as you humanly can every day. He is such a cheeky kitty too, and is always coming up with some way to tease his sibling or his human parents, such as wrapping his paws around your foot for a quick nip. Black cats are just unique in their own way, similar to how Calicos and Tortoiseshells have their own tortitude....black cats have catitude!
Tips and Tricks
- to expect the unexpected, lol
- to have lots of toys because they are very active
- be prepared to have many long cat conversations with your blackie
- play as much as you can with your blackie because they are the best moments of your life
- love your kitty as much as you can, they deserve so much
