Most Challenging Characteristics of the White Cat

Fur on the carpets and floor and pretty much everywhere, you have to be a dedicated cat lover to cope with a longhair.

When, Where and How I Got My White Cat

Martha was amongst a mixed colour litter of chinchilla kittens and we were really at odds with picking the right one as they were all so gorgeous. The breeder brought in a basket full of fluffballs and they all bounced out and around the room, some shot up the curtains others biffed and rolled with each other. Martha merely jumped on to the sofa next to my husband and seemed to say 'please pick me' as she looked up at him with her aquamarine eyes. Choice over.

I'd Describe My Cat As…

A queen (in the true sense) of cats, haughty and aloof at times. She came already trained and very much had her own personality from the start and demanded her own space.

Her favourite food being tinned tuna in spring water, at weekends, she just knows Saturday is tuna day somehow and sits on the bed oggling us till we get up and feed her.

Her favourite fuss is having her ears pummelled she just never has enough of that

Advice

  • Martha as a chinchilla, white with silver tips and black rimmed eyes needs a lot of daily care, not particularly liking the brush we have had to develop crafty ways of keeping her groomed as she's always seemed less inclined to washing herself than other cats.
  • It always appeared that she just expected to be pampered.
  • Occasionally she has had to be shaved in the spring and this always seemed to give her a new lease of life as she loves the freedom of being furless.
