Cat's Name & Age:

Ecru 5 years old

Best Characteristics of the Breed

Ecru is the ONLY ecru cat I have ever seen!

Most Challenging Characteristics of the Breed

He wants to go "outdoors" where I'd just as soon not have him...?!

When, Where and How I Got My Cat

Ecru was born to a dilute tortoise-shell female who had "adopted" my house as her home. I brought "Mama Cat" indoors one VERY cold night; a couple of weeks later she presented me with a single kitten. Since the newcomer was ecru in colour, that became his name! He is unusual in having a tail that is about 2/3 the length I would expect; he also can't move just its tip (as most cats do)...! When he is happy, he "wags" tail...!

I'd Describe My Cat As…

Technically, he would be a dilute (very!) red spotted tabby; however, his spots are only faintly visible on his sides. He is light tan (ecru), with his colouring darker along his spine, shading to a lighter colour further down his sides (very much like a Siamese in this...?!). We also have "conversations"...when I say "meow" he will reply by meowing. I call him using his name, as well as repeating "Cat cat cat cat cat...!"

He is GREAT company; he will always cuddle up next to me when I go to bed (leaving when he thinks I have fallen asleep!)...! Sadly, I haven't yet taken his photograph!

Advice

  • Cats DO NOT "belong" outdoors; there are too many dangers in life for an outdoor feline (speeding drivers, dogs and now coyotes here in Durham Region, Ontario, Canada!).
