When, Where and How I Got My Cat
My lovely Gregory came into the household as a boy but then gave birth to kittens - quite a surprise. She was a wonderful cat who was a good mother not only to her own litter but also to other waifs and strays we took in. She ruled the household keeping both the cats and the humans in order. We lost Greg recently I was touched to see her daughters sitting where we had buried her. It was a part of the garden they wouldn't have sat in before. They did this for quite a while. Just goes to show how caring these creatures really are.
I'd Describe My Cat As…
All my cats are special individuals.Gregory was a wonderful cat but so are they all. Each one has their own personality. Some get on really well, others are standoffish but no one falls out in any serious way. I think Gregory, as the dominant female, had a lot to do with that. She looked after new kittens that came into the household, washing them and protecting them. She even took to following me when I was ill for a while and would always be there, watching me, when I woke up and gave me a friendly fuss and a 'hello'. I had worried that when Gregory died the status quo might be ruined but somehow they seem closer than before and more tolerant of eachother. I have been fortunate to have a social family of cats -who even allow the dogs to be 'honorary' members!
Advice
- Accept each cat as an individual. Try to make sure they all have their own 'place' in the house. Respect that not all cats can get on all the time.Don't tell them off for accidents (particularly if you didn't see them in action )-there is usually a reason. Enjoy the entertainment they bring!
