When, Where and How I Got My Cat

In 1999 a mother tabby cat abandened her three kittens outside our house in Dover DE. She was trying to wean them and was too wild for us to catch, but her kittens let us near them and adopted us. My mother adopted one, which wandered off after my mother died and never came home. I adopted another one, Tigger, which was hit by a car and died. My daugher adopted the ast one, Sabre, which she left with me when she moved away from home. He is getting very old now but has settled in very nicely here in MO where we had to move because of my health.

I'd Describe My Cat As…

Sabre is a cream colored tabby with very faint tan stripes. He has a very mellow temperment with a loving and loyal personality. He loves to sleep at the bottom of the bed and will wrap his paws around your feet. He is very easy to train and has even been trained to stay on a leash in our new backyard. I didn't want him to get lost in this new home territory so I tried a leash and it worked. Other than getting old and slowing way down he is healthy and active. He chases the squirrels when they try to raid my vegatable garden and even catches the birds that try to eat the tomatoes.

Advice

  • Love your cat but respect his individuality.
