When, Where and How I Got My Cat

My husband purchased these kittens for me as a 50th birthday present from a breeder. They were 12 weeks old and just little bundles of furry energy! I had always said that I thought Himalayans were beautiful so I guess he took the hint. Best present ever!

I'd Describe My Cat As…

These cats are undoubtedly the sweetest breed! Very quiet and docile in general. They play together so well and never fight or get rough with each other or with me. I've never even heard them hiss. I have not had much of a problem with them getting into things or jumping on counters. They are stocky little cats so they aren't quite as lithe and athletic as some others. Purrcy is the most rambunctious one and has a rather plucky personality. Jaspurr is very shy and tentative. They are both extremely affectionate as long as it's on their terms, of course. They don't scratch up the furniture which is a good thing because I would never even think of having them declawed.

Advice

  • Brush, brush, brush that fur every day to lessen shedding and prevent matting. It is also common for them to have eye issues. I have to clean Purrcy's eyes on a daily basis because they run and get stained. Jaspurr's not so much, but he still needs his cleaned occasionally. I also have to clean their ears at least once a week. All that fur on the backside can also cause some hygiene problems from time to time, but that was mostly during their kittenhood. I think finding the right food is helpful with litterbox issues as they do seem to have a sensitive stomach and sometimes even a few treats can cause problems.
