When, Where and How I Got My Tortie

Phoebe and I became acquainted on the local shelter website. I loved her 1/2 dark 1/2 light face and thought I'd go see her along with a lot of other kittens. She was only 10 weeks old in a cage with her 2 siblings. The other girl with her was very pushy and kept knocking her down when she'd come over to see me. I knew I had to have her so that I could get her away from that big bully! She also had the sweetest little meow for me and would look up at me with her big green eyes as if to say get me out of here! So, I brought the kids back later that day and they fell in love with her too.

I'd Describe My Cat As…

Phoebe is very smart, a know it all, loving and playful. She runs the household not us. She thinks she's a human. She rides in the car with me. She also greets people at the door, like we do. She thinks she can talk and we have great conversations. As for her intelligence: she can sit, stand, high five, and give kisses on command (so maybe she can speak and we just aren't smart enough to figure it out). She is also toillet trained so no more litter to scoop for me. She really does think she's a person.

Advice

  • Just know that this is not your typical cat. They are smart and want to be the boss. This can lead to some very interesting situations (most of them hilarious!).
