My Unforgettable Tortie Girl, Gretchen

What a face!

Cat's Name & Age:

Gretchen, 17 when she died.

Best Characteristics of the Tortoiseshell

Independence and Love for their person.

Gretchy was my girl from the time I brought her home at 6 weeks til she died in my arms of liver cancer at the age of 17. If I was sitting down she had no qualms about plopping down on my lap and purring while I gave her a thorough petting.

Most Challenging Characteristics of the Tortoiseshell

Demanding, A one person cat, Pissy, total Drama Queen

Gretchen would rarely let my now ex husband pet her even though he was there most of her life and adored her. He was a poor substitute for me in her opinion.

When, Where and How I Got My Tortie

I got Gretchen from a family that was taking her to the pound because they could not find a home for the only female in the litter.

She made her self at home from the moment we walked in the door with her. she was 6 weeks old at the time, to young I now know.

I'd Describe My Cat As…

My Girl forever! I have other cats whom I adore but she will always be my girl and the one I will miss the most. She woke me up at about 3am almost every night of her life and I still wake up most nights at that time. I call it the Gretchy hour.

Advice

  • Patience
  • Tolerance of the Attitude that she will always have.
