When, Where and How I Got My Maine Coon
We got Murphy from a friend of ours who had 3 stray cats turn up at their house in 1 month! They decided they could only keep one, and planned to hand the other 2 into the RSPCA, so when I found out one was a Maine Coon I jumped at the chance to adopt him, having wanted one for years! He was checked at the vets for tags, and had no collar so we were safe to adopt him and have adored him ever since, I cant believe how lucky we were to find him - he is the centre of our universe and I couldn't have wished for a better character, he is everything I ever wanted from a cat :-)
I'd Describe My Cat As…
Chirpy, cuddly, hilarious, shouty, affectionate, a very strong personality, he loves having my bf and I in the same room together with him, he likes to be very close to us at all times, he was easy to train, stubborn, loves having his neck scratched, no discernible health problems, he wakes me (but not bf) early to be fed - sometimes putting his paw in my mouth, pretend-scratching my face or head, sitting on my face, banging my cupboard doors for attention or just generally shouting until I get out of bed to feed him! He is very cuddly and purrey, but is not a lap cat at all, he likes to be picked up and cuddled or sit right up against you but not on you. He likes to kiss/headbutt you before he eats anything which can be frustrating as this has to happen up to 5 times in the evening, and he will sit and shout at you until you follow him, kiss him and then watch him eat! He loves to be kissed and snuggled on the forehead :)
Advice
- Groom your cat every day!
- Keep on top of knots / matts in their fur, due to the silky nature it gets matted very easily and they grow very quickly!
