When, Where and How I Got My Maine Coon
My hubby was in TX and this cat followed him across the parking lot into his hotel room. He had to go that night to Wal-Mart and get a kitty box, milk, Iam's food, toys and a condo. He was staying the week. So I made arrangements for the "boy" to be fixed. Turns out he was a she. We named her Katydid like the bug and the town shecame from.
Nothing wrong with her, healthy and pregnant. She gavebirth to 6 healthy babies in my closet. I got Eric's mom fixed and I gave Katy to a 90 year old lady whose cat died and they are like peas & carrots. That is how we got Eric.
I'd Describe My Cat As…
The most unusual cat I have ever owned. He chirps like a bird and can jump straight up 6 feet off of the floor. One day my Bengal was leaning too hard on the screen and several cats fell out the window.
Eric didn't like being outside and since I live in a spacious double wide; the window he was trying to jump into was a small bathroom window 8 feet off of the ground and he almost grabbed the window too. I was so amazed that he could jump so high. He is a demanding
lap cat, is 20 lbs. right now and 3 feet long from tip of tail to paw stretched out. Biggest cat I have ever had and is not fat. Loves to throw toy mice in the air and bats them and always drops them into the food dish. He brings the mice to me to throw and retrieves all the time!
Advice
- This cat is not for the shy person - They can grow quite large and jump quite a distance. You have to really be a cat person and make sure your environment is safe for this type of cat.
- Lots of brushing tokeep the silky fur looking beautiful and tangle free.
