When, Where and How I Got My Maine Coon

Romey came into my life five years ago. My previous cat, an orange tabby, had died after having him for twelve years, so I wasn't planning on getting another cat for awhile but a friend of my mother had a little Maine Coon kitten that showed up one day near her house. She was hungry and it was cold outside. My mother's friend is also a cat lover and took compassion on her. She took her inside to spare her the cold of a Connecticut night and the possibility of harm. She knew that my previous cat had died and she thought that I might love this sweet and homeless kitten. She was right-I do!

I'd Describe My Cat As…

My cat is incredibly sweet, highly trainable---she responds to "sit" before receiving her food, and laid back in nature. She requires a lot of fresh water to drink because she has had a urinary tract infection but other than that and a few hairballs from time to time, she is in great health.

Advice

  • Try to keep to a schedule as much as possible with your Maine Coon because they seem to like routine and they also seem to like praise and seek their owner's approval, so the more the praise, the better.
