When, Where and How I Got My Maine Coon
I got my Cat,when my daughter Maryam was through with her class 10, board exams,as promised. My son Alyjah, was also thrilled to have a pet at home.
Our cat was bought on the 1st of June 2006. A month old kitten. We stopped by the market,it was raining profusely, and the kids dashed out of the car and scurried down the by-lanes to the pet shop. The driver ran after them with the money for the purchase. We had actually chosen a ginger kitten, but then, the kids found this black and white tabby kitten, with a scratched left ear adorable. So it was decided, they named him X-Calibur,and got him home with much pomp 'n glory!
I'd Describe My Cat As…
X-Calibur has lots of expressions on his face, and is very communicative. He says Mama', and not the usual meow, and has the sweetest cajoling voice. He's a bit spoiled and not brave, but enjoys freaking out people who are uncertain or afraid of his bearing. He loves to be hand fed. He is very inquisitive, but scared of loud noises.Though he's always well fed, he manages to prey on sparrows and chases after little animals just for the kill. He loves resting his head on our pillows and cushions. And has this beautiful stride, no wonder the cliche' cat-walk! He's a treat to watch, and always looks beautiful. X-Calibur can make the most innocent and vulnerable faces at times. He loves to sun himself everyday, but hates his monthly bathing and gets angry and upset and unapproachable for a good 2 hrs after. He even gives us kisses(rests his mouth on our cheeks), when we hold him close. He sulks when we have to leave him back home, to go shopping or dinners etc. I feel he loves us in his own way spiced with lots of attitude. He loves being physically close, but does not sit on our laps. X-Calibur is very disciplined in his food habits and likes, and is toilet trained, as in he uses only his litter tray, that we clean 3-4 times a day. But as all cats must do, he scratches, at the furniture and has to be reprimanded always, gently though! He has not taken any affinity to scratch mats or the like, somehow. He hates his visits to his vet, and is always happy at home, though sometimes he does venture out of our main entrance door, but never very far. At some rare times he does get worms, and has to be dewormed. He is basically a healthy and happy cat,who loves to play and be pampered. We love to shop for him and buy neck medallions and little belts and toys. He's joyful to have around and has a calming effect, especially on me. We love him.
