When, Where and How I Got My Cat

During the Summer of 2009 I did some research on the Internet about Ragdolls and found local Ragdoll breeders near Peterhead. I telephoned them to find out about kitten availability and costs. I then sent them an email stating why I wanted a Ragdoll kitten and added a bit of information about my family. Thereafter a female kitten was picked out for me (I was sent photos of her by email). I agreed to purchase her and when she had been immunized I was able to visit and pay a deposit for her. A few weeks later (in October 2009) I was able to take her home when she was 16 weeks old.

I'd Describe My Cat As…

Blossom my Ragdoll is very bold and adventurous. Just recently while work was being done to our house and the floorboards under the stairs had been lifted she managed to jump inside and wouldn't come out. I managed to tempt her out by opening a tin of tuna and the smell of it brought her out immediately. She is also very playful and loves to play inside empty shopping bags. I often leave a shopping bag out for her filled with a few toys and she will play for quite some time inside the bag. She is also very curious and inquisitive and likes to know what's going on. Recently my husband was fitting a carpet in a small room and I noticed her sitting outside the door with her ear to the door listening to what was going on in there. As soon as the door opened she darted inside to explore. She is also intelligent and has learned a few tricks such as begging to receive treats, even if I don't have any to give her.

Advice

  • Cat proof the rooms you leave your Ragdoll in when going out
  • Groom daily, if possible, to ensure a good healthy coat and less cat hairs in the house
  • Use a vacuum attachment such as the Dyson Animal attachment for stairs and upholstery as it's very effective in picking up animal hairs
  • Use only good quality cat food with a high percentage of protein and always ensure the cat has access to water both downstairs and upstairs, if the cat has access to both these areas
  • Even if you only have one cat provide two litter trays. Cats are very clean animals and only like clean litter trays
