Cat's Name & Age:
Sabina, age 10
Best Characteristics of the Tabby
I love the colours of my Tabby, they range from caramel to black. Especially in the sunlight, her beautiful fur just glows.
Most Challenging Characteristics of the Tabby
She is sooooo devoted to me, that is very hard to leave her for more than a couple of days. She cries so much when I am gone, that she loses her voice from all the crying.
When, Where and How I Got My Tabby
I got my Sabina in 2002 from our local no kill shelter: Furry Friends. You can visit their website at: www.furryfriendsshelter.org to see their current line up of cats that are up for adoption.
I'd Describe My Cat As…
It was a bit strange at first, but after it happened a couple of times I got the message. Sabina acts as a referee when I'm having an (uh hum) argument/discussion with my husband. As soon as my voice rises, or changes in tone, Sabina lets me know by a gentle, or sometimes, not soooo gentle nibble on my ankle, or arm, or whatever bare part of my body is in line with her teeth. She doesn't hurt me, and I was stunned the first time, as she never bites. After the second time, I got the message. She was telling me in her own way that she did not appreciate my tone of voice, and to keep it down. Chill!.
Advice
- My best advice for cat owners is to make informed decisions about what you feed your cats. Their is a lot of garbage food on the shelves. Be your cats' advocate, and read the labels. I know they are small, and difficult to decipher, but if you see any of these ingredients in the first 5 or 10, go on to another brand: Flour, rice, any kind of meat or fish byproducts, animal digest, corn. Cats need protein, just think of what they would eat if they were in the wild. Feed them good food, and they will stay healthy and happy longer.
