When, Where and How I Got My Cat
1994, a friend's tiniest Siamese cat had 6 large kittens, one of which came to live with me. (The father was a Burmese.) I'd had a back operation, had to stay quiet so this darling little kitten kept me entertained - a good excuse to protect him from a mother and daughter duo who were most interested in this little home invader.
I'd Describe My Cat As…
Bossy, creature of habit (knows when it's bedtime), fussy eater, very vocal when he wants me to sit or lie down and give him some tlc. Knows how to turn a cold shoulder when i have to leave him during the day. He's an old man now, but still has moments of kittenish behaviour - he's wary of strangers, loves my old shoes and women's purses. He can entertain himself and others for ages checking these items out, rolling his scent all over them. Also a good guard, as he lets me know when someone comes up the driveway. And, I love him to bits.
Advice
- Be prepared to give lots of time and love when a kitten, tons of patience for an older cat, as they would be bewildered by their change of circumstances, especially if they have been traumatized at all.
