Cat's name, gender, and ages when you first met and now
9-27-2010> Our TT. (The Tennessee Tuxedo) was about 8 weeks old when he first came to us ,A very handsome male black/white Kitty Kat, now he is a little over a year.
How did you first meet your cat?
He followed our beloved male kitty at the time (Punky), home one very cold and snowy morning in January of 2009 to our door step crying and starving to death.(@ 6 feet of snow on the ground at the time) I opened the door to let 'Punky' in and 'TT'. hurried/jumped/rolled/scampered in behind him!
What happened that turned it into a permanent adoption?
We fed and watered him for all of that day. He was/is such a handsome guy. We did not need another cat but we decided to take him to the vet to get him checked out, his shots, neutered and micro-chipped so that when we did find him a home or take him to the Humane Soc. he would be safe there from disease and have a good chance to be adopted into a forever home. Our Vet also found that he had an infection from being out on his own without any protection, so that had to be doctored also. This all took about 3 months. Whne he recovered we started to try to find him a good home. Then as fate would have it, he went out to play with 'Punky'and got beat up on by another cat before 'Punky' ran it off. (we have about 2 acres for them to play/hunt in) So it was back to the vet again! That took about 2 more months of doctoring and he was once again ready for a new home? As hard as we tried we could not find him a home, so off to the Humane Soc. he went.It was so hard to surrender TT. but 'Punky' had seniority and that was the 'HARD" choice that we had to make. Little did we know then that it all would very soon be all turned around. We called twice or three times a week to see that he was well and if they had placed him yet. We even made a $500 donation to them when we dropped him off that day! But all was not going to well with TT in a cage there! They told us that he would not let anyone near him and he spit/hissed at them when they came around. This was not the TT that we knew. Then one night 'Punky' came in the house at bed time crying uncontrollably. Knowing that there was something wrong we rushed him to the emergency Vet. about 50 miles away. The verdict was bad, he had a male crystal blockage of his urinary tract and we had to have him put down on the advice of our Vet. It broke both of our hearts. When we got home the next day we called to see if TT was still there (they have a 'no kill' policy, thank God), we went directly to the Humane Soc. to 'Spring' TT. Although he would not let anyone near him there, I went right in and he ran to his cage door and jumped into my waiting arms, purring all the way! They could not believe their eyes that this was the same Kitty!! We took him home and he settled right in to his "FOREVER HOME" at last. We have an 8 X 10 picture of "Punky" on the dining room table and at least once a week we see him up there staring at it for the longest time, then he ALWAYS falls to sleep right there. He knows who to credit for his "FOREVER HOME"!!!!
What I'd Do Differently
- nothing, God/Mother Nature knows best how to enlist our help/love......."The Mafia Man" TT's Dad.........And "Punky" too!!
