My Kitten's Special Personality Traits
Callie Cuddles is a very loving little thing, she does not want to be held until she is ready but when she wants to be rubbed you better be ready. She will walk up to you and put her little face in yours and it makes you just want to love her and squeeze her. When i bathe she wants her face done.
The Mutual Bond I Share With my Kitten
I got Callie when she was a day old. I bottle feed for a shelter in my home town and i get very attached to my babies. They are all very unique in their personality and their looks. The shelter didn't have room for callie so they told the lady that found her to call me. I took her of course.
Significant Benefits of our Relationship
When i feel down and out all she has to do is come up to me and put her nose on my face for her loving and rubbing and it makes me feel better. She can make you forget that you are tired by just giving her a hug. I love her so much!!!
Why I'd Do It All Over Again
i have three now from the shelter and all of them have their little unique ways. One will only drink water out of the facet in the bathroom. One has the softest fur i have ever felt and just flops over when you walk in the room to be rubbed. But miss Callie is just plain wonderful in every way!
What led me to adopt a shelter kitten
I had raised one for them and my brother adopted it. My son is 12 and handicapped, he had gotten attached to baby so when my brother took her we had to have one for him also. We called Diane and went to the shelter and he picked out his cat. He is a tuxedo black and white and so sweet. He kept sticking his paw out of the cage and tapping Casey on the head, we got him out and he wasn't afraid of Casey's wheelchair, he jumped up on Casey's lap and that was it. He came home with us. The second rescue kitten was one i was bottle feeding when Casey went in for a major surgery, Casey wouldn't let him go to the shelter.
How many visits did you make before adopting?
It only took one visit. After that first visit, I started bottle feeding for them and I have raised about 20 or 30 now on a bottle and had to give them back so she could get them adopted, but i know when she adopts them to people that my babies are being took care of. I love them all and would love to be able to keep them all. We cry every time we send one back to the rescue but we still keep bottle feeding. Casey says Mom we have to keep feeding them or they will die. So we keep bottle feeding and crying when they leave but we know that they were loved and fed and took care of. I have lost a couple that were a week or so old when i got them or a had been thrown out of cars by people but they at least were warm and loved when they passed away. Oh the crying we have done over these babies, the real kicker is, i am a dog person not a cat person. Now I love the kittens as much as my dogs and they are all our babies. I would go get another in a heartbeat if i had room to keep another one but we have 3 dogs and 3 cats, my house is always fun!! Please take the time to look at the rescues and shelters, you would not believe how great it is to come home to one of these little kittens and to see the love in their eyes for you. They are so wonderful and loving.
Advice
- don't just pick a kitten, let it pick you too. If that kitten picks you the bond is so great, it isn't just a kitten it is your baby.
- if you don't want a wild little climbing kitten running all over the house and making you laugh then get an older cat, they are usually more laid back and just want to lay around and get petted.
- If you have small children, get them used to each other a little at a time, let them grow up together.
- Ask about how the kitten gets along with people, what is it's personality. Is it a loving kitten or a scared kitten.
