How I Came About to Adopt This Cat
My wife and I saw a driver toss something out of a truck window, which rolled underneath the truck. Once the truck drove by, we saw a little kitten get up from the middle of the road, and walk off onto the grass. I turned around, and pulled over and picked him up. Thank goodness he wasn't hurt. The Vet told us he was about 4-6 weeks old. My wife is allergic to cats, so we put an ad on Kijiji for him, but after a few days, we grew to love him. Also, her allergies didn't bother her with Atticus, so we saw it as a sign that we should keep him. My wife named him Atticus and he's been a fantastic addition to our family.
Why I Think my Cat Deserves This Title
I think Atticus should win because he's a brave little kitten who survived what could have been a terrible accident. After being tossed out of a moving truck at 60km/h, and almost being run over, he's grown so close and loyal to us, just over a year later. It took him about 2 weeks to warm up to us, which was no surprise after what he went through, but we couldn't ask for a better cat. He sleeps in a chair in our bedroom every single night, and every time we come home from somewhere, he hears our garage open, and greets us at the door, purring before we even pet him. He's a very playful cat, and absolutely loves to play fetch. My family have had cats my whole life and Atticus is the most loving and loyal cat I have ever come across. Now we have a new addition to our family, a beautiful baby girl and he protects her by laying in front of her playpen or crib wherever she is, he is always watching out for her!
Advice
- I think for anyone looking to adopt a cat, they will be very happy with one because of the love you receive from such a beautiful animal! I would definitely recommend adopting a cat so that you could give it a loving home which it truly deserves as so many are put down before they can be adopted. Like my mother always said, a home isn't a home without a cat. =)
