How I Came About to Adopt This Cat

My husband went outside to check the mail. While outside he heard a kitten mewing like it was hurt or scared to death. He tracked down the sound and it was coming form under our neighbor’s trailer but he couldn't reach it. He told the neighbor. She said ya I know a stray had a litter under there, they are all gone but that one so just let it die!! We were so upset but when she left my husband went out to try and rescue him before she came back. When he lifted the right piece Michael jumped straight into his arms and held on for dear life. He was so scared and starving. He has been our special baby every since.

Why I Think my Cat Deserves This Title

Michael is the most timid yet loving cat I have ever had. He has only been seen in person by 8 people in his entire life. It took years for him to show his face to our best friends.

When you do get to meet Michael though he has as much love in him as he does the scardy cat. When we are laying in bed he will curl his body on my or my husbands chest and rub his face all over ours and give little kisses by licking our lips like a puppy dog would and then purr and purr and purr.

You can see in the picture that he has one ear that is very different than the other. It is cauliflower ear just like a boxer can get after some fights. He scratched his ear so hard one time that it swelled up and became a cauliflower ear. We just think it makes him even more special.

On May 15th & 16th of this month our cat Skyler became mommy to 2 kittens with the help of our cat Marcus. Even though Marcus is the daddy Michael has adopted them. He cleans them, he helped Skyler litter train them and he brings them mouths full of food for them to eat to help them learn to eat solid food.

He tried to take care of them the second they were born but we did not let him because we were afraid of how Skyler would react. After about 2 weeks he and Skyler were teaching them together.

Now that the kittens are 6 weeks old Skyler is pulling away a little but that is just fine with Michael he gets to play and teach them even more.

Advice

  • Any cat or dog that has been saved from a bad place, be it a bad home or the streets will have some lasting effect just as a human child would. You need to be prepared for that. A kitten with emotional scares will one day make the best pet you could ever want but you will need to invest twice the time that you would if you had gotten a kitten that never saw that pain.
  • Be ready for and adventure.
