Cat's Name and Color (Pattern)
TC - Black & White Tuxedo Cat
When and How We Met
I met TC at the PetsMart in Uniontown, PA, on August 1, 2009. One look at that little tuxedo face and I was hooked. I have always been partial to tuxedo cats because they are so lovable and loving. The two I have had in the past were both mama's boys who loved to be held and carried like babies.
How Does the Cat Get Along With Other Cats and Dogs?
TC fits right in with my kitty family. He loves to play and chase his little furry mousies, and he like to sleep under the covers in my arms just like Domino did.
Personality Traits of This Cat
I have found tuxedo cats to be the most loving kitties ever. Boots loved to be carried around with his body pressed up against me, and he would say "mama." Domino slept under the covers in my arms and suckled on my inner elbow until his untimely death of kidney failure at age 9, just 3 weeks after I adopted TC. Amazingly, TC loves to be held, sleeps in Domino's old spot, and he actually suckles on his own leg whenever he is petted. If you rub the white stripe on his nose, he goes to sleep. He is a baby, just like Boots and Dommie were, and I love him to pieces. He is six months old now.
Compare With Other Cats in Your Home
I have found calico cats to be very demanding of attention and also very sweet. My tortie is very quiet and has almost no personality, and totally freaks out if you try to pick her up. The orange tabbies I have had were the worst behaved cats, very aggressive toward the other cats. My black cat, Pyewacket, is a big sweetheart but is also cat-aggressive. My seal-point Siamese mix that died, Sammy, was the smartest and coolest cat ever. I just adopted a young blue point Siamese mix, Kafka, who is a big talker and head-butter, very affectionate. I have a gray and white bi-color, who LOVES people and has to be the first to greet any new visitor, he also bites fingers and toes. TC, like the other tuxedos I have had, follows me everywhere, to the point that if I stop and change direction abruptly, I invariably step on him. When I leave the house he stands by the door and cries, and he is the first there to greet me when I come home. He likes to be carried laying on his back like a baby and have his nose rubbed.
Lessons learned
- I believe that color or pattern does have a lot to do with personality.
- I would recommend tuxedo cats for anyone who wants a companion cat that has dog-like qualities and gives a lot of love.
- Calicoes are princesses and expect to be treated as such. They also like to pose for pictures. :-)
