Pepper With Her Wool Gift

Your Cat's Name, Age and Gender

Pepper, soon to be 3, Female (of course neutered).

Pertinent Background Information

Pepper is a rescue cat. Within three days, she was totally "at home" with her surroundings. I knew that because when I stretched that morning I had a Pepper on my chest giving me kisses.

Your Cat's Basic Personality

Pepper likes to be where there's people. She greets everyone who come to the door and will sit on everyone's lap. She is very vocal with me when she wants something, especially going to bed at night

Gifts my Cat Brought Me

Well, "the wool"; at nighttime, the wool comes upstairs and in the morning it comes back downstairs. Of course, she is totally a Temptations cat; yes, she gets a few when she comes downstairs and she gets a few when we go upstairs at night. She has a toy basket and she will go and get them out of there to play with. As well, she has toys hanging on doorknobs, and when she is waiting for you to go to another room, she will gladly amuse herself with them. As she is an indoor cat, I don't have to worry about having to dispose of a dead mouse. (smile).

What is Your Usual Reaction to Kitty's Gifts?

I will certainly pet, scratch her chin, sometime groom her, sometime do a pedicure (trim nails), a tummy rub. She will of course get a Temptations treat. She certainly likes you to talk to her and as she is quite vocal, on those occasions she will chat right back at you. At about 10:00 p.m. is when she will bring "the wool" upstairs and her intent in doing that is because she expects you to follow her to bed. Of course I will shortly follow her and the fun starts all over again. She will amuse herself with her hanging toys until I'm ready to sit and talk to her and give her a few Temptations. She will then sit on my lap and purr.

Lessons Learned

  • I really don't know what she was trying to tell us when she started with "the wool", but getting a reward was certainly an incentive to repeatedly do it. With the fuss she generates, I'm sure she knows we think it's very cute, and she does like to please. I've learned that she is very happy to be the centre of attention, and the purrs say it all.
