Jazz

Cat's Name, Age, and Gender:

Jazz, 11 years old, definitely a male

Best Characteristics of my Senior

He loves to bite my hand while I pet him. Chomping the hand that pets you...What a rotten #@$%^$&*!!! He's a great companion. Rotten little stinker.

Challenges of Life With an Older Cat

We've both been very fortunate. Jazz has no major health problems. He's a walking furball factory. He once started gagging on a furball and panicked. Without thinking I yanked it out of his throat. Do we love our cats or what? I'd walk through fire for that guy.

When, Where and How I Got My Cat

1999 at the Open Door Animal Sanctuary in House Springs Mo. I adopted him sight unseen. I just knew. I never even saw his face until I took him out of the box. He got his name from a good friend that I've since lost(I hate cancer) who had a cat named Jazz and my love of jazz music. Jazz to me is the soundtrack to most cats lives. It's wierd and quirky and vibrant and bluesy. You can inject any emotion into it and you'll find my boy Jazz.

I'd Describe My Cat As…

Quirky, wierd, bizarre. Loving, inquisitive, goofy. Aloof, needy, temperamental. Just your typical cat. I live in an old apartment building. I have high ceilings that require a tall stepladder just to change light bulbs. I nailed and glued carpet swatches to the rungs and thought it might make a good cat-tree. I figured I'd have to teach him what I meant. I made it as far as the first rung when he leapt out of my arms and went right to the top. I call him my Ladder Lion. I'm convinced if I carpetted the walls and ceilings here he'd be napping by the ceiling fan. Rotten freeloading cat. You'd think he could at least clean this dump up while I'm gone. I can't even get him to clean out the litter box. Rotten free-loading so-and-so.

Advice

  • Proceed with caution!!! Potentially oddball cat ahead. Has been known to exhibit strange unexplainable behaviour.
