Challenges of Life With an Older Cat
so far there are no challenges...thank goodness. She is still. She loves to be groomed daily and is my desk companion at the computer although at times she sits on the keyboard, very healthy, eats well, plays and loves.
When, Where and How I Got My Cat
I was in Miami visiting a friend who had rented a studio for an art exhibition (from Ibiza). The area was full of cats and he, a cat lover, had taken to feeding a mother and 3 kittens...I saw Siggy(his nickname for Tirgretta) bounding along in the grass at 3 weeks old, she came and jumped in my lap and it was love at first sight! When he came to join others friends visiting me from Florence we brought Siggy, her sister Blanca, and her brother and a calico with us! Siggy and Blanca stayed with me while the other two were adopted out immediately. They still have a special bond with each other within my cat family.
But her bond
I'd Describe My Cat As…
Age has not changed her. She is still gentle and loving with all my cats. She purrs like an incessant motor when I am around. She still loves her daily grooming and sleeps with me. She plays soccer with plastic rings and love a touch of catnip periodically.
She has not changed at all in temperament. I make certain I tell her I love her every day. Perhaps she naps a bit more but that is the only change plus she is more cautious when she jumps, which she still can with great agility.
She gives me kisses and looks with such loving eyes and loves a good tummy rub!
Advice
- Senior cats can give so much love and people forget about them.
- I always think if something were to happen to me, what about my 6 family members aged from 15(2,) 12(1) 10(2) and the baby who is 7.
- Please remember they can give love for along time and need homes, not just the adorable kittens.
