What my Cat Loved and Hated Most
oscar loved to curl up on my rug,only certain people could pat him.ziggy loved to jump outside and catch insects and birds.oscar hated to leave,ziggy hated to stay inside but loved everyone.
What I'll Miss Most About my Cat
ziggy was different,a tan,black tabby,i thought sometimes he knew what i was thinking,he used to sleep by my feet every nite,well almost.oscar he came to my door step also,he was always dirty,sometimes he d come home with battle scars,both true survivors.they were both so comforting.
How this cat became my companion
oscar showed up on my door step 1 day,at 1st i couldnt get near him but after a while and some food he let me close but it didnt happen over night.ziggy,was in my apt.building when i moved in,1 winter day while he was in my place,he was very sick,i took him to the vet in an ice storm and paid for his care i gave him pills for 10 days,so after that i let the people in the building know ziggy was now mine.no one was willing to take him to the vet...it was a truly long week and giving him pills was not easy.after ziggy got better he only got sick once more.
How my cat enriched my life
it was love at first sight for both cats,oscar reminded me of oscar on the tv show the odd couple,even when it rained he just never seemed to get clean,but he was willing to share his life with me and my young daughter,1 day me and my daughter were in the little park next door,my daughter was just a toddler,oscar saw that she was going towards the sidewalk so he herded her back to me i just couldnt believe a cat would do that.ziggy was funny,he once brought a bird into my house and i had to put it back outside cause it was still alive,well ziggy got out and went looking for the bird so i brought him back in...he moped for a couple days after that...wasnt happy with me at all.
Lessons learned
- that cats do not forget whether its good or bad and they know who
- cares about them the most...i admired their persistance when it came to hunting.for 20 plus years i have always taken care of strays,some became inside pets others you couldnt get them to stay
- inside or want to.i am grateful for all the cats.right now i am feeding 2 outside.1 brown tabby,1 yellow tabby both males as were oscar and ziggy
