Quirky Little Habits of my Cat

Miz. Purty used to cuddle with my foot the same way you would cuddle a body pillow, my foot/leg was her comfort pillow at night. She used to cuddle up to our dog and kids snuggling her head up against them, she was our little cuddle bug. She was also very vocal and had a distinct meow.

What my Cat Loved and Hated Most

Miz. Purty loved her brother Mojo, I mean truly, truly loved him, she couldn't be without him for long periods of time. They played and cuddled constantly. She loved being outside, but never more than 100 feet away from her home. She loved her family very much and showed it always.

What I'll Miss Most About my Cat

I will miss her loyalty and love more than anything. I will miss her sweet, sweet compassionate personality. I will miss how in her sleep she could feel me looking at her, she would barely open her eyes and let out a whispered meow, almost like letting me know that she knows how I feel about her.

How this cat became my companion

We rescued her and her brother from an owner who was going to drop them off at the nearest shelter to be put down because he was moving out of state the next night. I intended on finding them homes, but they were so young they were on kitten formula so I would have to wait a couple of weeks. Well, after about four days I was smitten and it was then that they decided I was to be their mama, my husband their daddy and our kids their siblings. Not really being cat people we were shocked by the amount of love and affection they gave to us, all of us even our dog. They became our babies not our pets.

How my cat enriched my life

Miz. Purty brought us sheer joy. If you looked at her you couldn't help but smile. She had the funniest personality and just so full of love, love I never knew a cat could posess and she shared it constantly. In her sleep she could feel me looking at her so she would barely open her eyes and let out a whispered meow, almost like letting me know that she knows how I feel about her and that the feelings were mutual. She has truly left a mark on my life that will be with me forever and as the song goes "I could have missed the pain, but I'd had to miss the dance," what she brought to us in the 7 months we were blessed with her was worth the pain. An angel had chosen us as her family for her brief time on this earth. I Thank God for such a beautiful gift.

Lessons learned

  • She showed me a love that I have never felt a bond that I never knew could exist between a human and a cat. I had always thought that cats were stuck up and didn't have feelings, but she showed me I was wrong.
  • She showed me an understanding that was so unreal, it was like she truly understood everything I ever felt or said to her.
  • Having her in my life for that short amount of time has shown me that it isn't how long you have been together that matters, and that 7 months can change your life.
  • I have learned that angels don't always come in the form of humans, but also in the form of cats.
