How I met my first cat
We had a lakehouse in Indiana. We also had a dog named Scruffy. One day we were sitting on the screen porch and thought we heard "Meowing". Looked out toward the field and saw nothing. The "meowing" came again and sounded rather close. We looked out the back door and sitting on the steps, in really bad shape was this black kitten. Let me note that we were having a hot spell and temps were ranging about mid 90's. She was adorable, but I remember saying that we couldn't keep her because we had a dog. How this cat wormed its way into my heart
dog started licking her. We knew she would stay!
She would not eat or drink at first, so we fed her water with an eyedropper and spoonfeed her moist cat food for a few days til we could get her to a vet. When we found her the gums and lips were bluish purple. By time to vet they
were pink. After a visit to vet and antibiotics she started to perk up. By then she had melted our hearts and moved right into our lives. Now she and Scruffy get along fine, but Magic lets him know she is queen, even though he has been here longer. Such a joy and never ending surprises with both of them.
