Sometimes there is a very fine line between a "tortie and white" and "calico." I sometimes call these cats "tortiecals" or "calicotorts," but I have never seen them clearly defined on feline geneology web sites.

Here is your chance to demonstrate your knowledge by identifying these pictures of torties and calico cats.

This is not a test, but an opportunity to show off your feline color genetics knowledge.

cat colors or breed

tabby for sure, calico just a touch, blue eyes could be siamese, white is for good luck what a beautiful cat!

Torties and Calicos

My take: Torties have colors that run together and a Calico's colors are more defined - separate and definable spots

what color?

I would call this cat a Brown Patch Tabby with white. A brown patch tabby is a variation of calico and tortie.

Madison

Madison is my wonderful cat and I think she is kind of both calico and tortie. Her face is very patchy like a calico the black and orange on her back are very blended.
