From the article: 2008 Year of the Cat in Review
2008 has been a memorable year for cats, both on the About.com Cats site, and in news throughout the world. Some of it has been very good news, some very bad, and others remain to be seen. I've chronicled my own list of news, and you may add one item which stood out in your mind as being the most important to cats. It may be from your own experience or from the world of cats at large.

- I have to say that, while it didn't seem like I was offering so very much, my part in Project Jersey Kittens turned out to be a wonderful thing, and brought me closer to a good friend.

Moses and Matilda, my twins...
- I had my babies (feline) one year before my dear father passed away and they continue to be a source of comfort through these sad days.

Weebles is still blushing!
- As Wee perches on the top level of the cat tree across the room, I still wonder at her abilities. With many years experience in the cat rescue business, this is not the first time that I've encountered cats and kits with the same problem as hers. It was always a 'rule' that these kittens should be adopted to homes that had a minimum number of stairs, minimizing the risk of injury to them. Then along came Weebles, who defies every safety measure we've tried to take. Baby gates at the top of our basement stairs were simply something to challenge her ingenuity. If the other cats in the house could go up and down freely, so would go Wee. That's not to say she doesn't fall, but she does so with such a carefree attitude that we dare not say a word! The look on her face is always one of, "What? You've never tripped or stumbled? Get over it, and get outta my way!" I know this really isn't a piece of 'cat news' per se, but her continuing presence amazes me.

E Helps With Project Jersey Kittens
- I'm Pat, the lucky person blessed with finding Tiger Lily and her kittens in my barn. I knew all along we couldn't keep all 4 of them, but was finding it very difficult and emotional to let go of the two boy kittens. I was so blessed when E, an About.Com: Cats forum member and friend, called to say she would help with their rehoming. It was so much easier to let them go with someone I trusted to a place she trusted to get them to a good home. And then to learn they were adopted, together, to an indoor only home that would not declaw, within just a few days of their arrival at the 'shelter', was the icing on the cake. A very happy ending for all.
