Wales Cat Challenges Record for Oldest Cat

The BBC News reports that Amber, a fuzzy torbie, from the looks of her, may be a contender for the Guinness record of World's Oldest Living Cat. The current record holder is Spook, a 23-year-old cat from Ontario, Canada, according to the article.
Amber, who lives in west Wales, showed up "smiling down from a tree" at the home of Diane Sleeman in 1978.
Guinness officials told the BBC News that if Amber's age can be verified adequately, "she's definitely in with a shout."

i found my cat in 1983 and the doctor said she was 3 years old then, so i would say she is about 23 mabye 24 years old i have had her for 20 years,i started giving her this stuff called pet heath, now you’d swear she is only 10 years old.have a nice day
Got my cat Spooky, as a 12 week old kitten, in late September of 1985. She has lost a few teeth eating dry food in the past, so she’s on a wet food only diet now. Lost her hearing about 2 years ago.

Our calico was born March 13, 1985. We live on a busy highway and had lost several kittens to cars. I was given Me-Nu by a friend and figured she would wind up like the rest. We had her spayed at 6 weeks. My daughters who were 3 and 6 were not allowed to go in the front yard because of the danger of the highway…well ole Nu didn’t either. Now 22 years later both girls have moved away and my husband and I are left to entertain this perfectly healthy -all teeth, all hearing, all seeing, eating and sleepy yard cat!!!
my mum got her cat from an air con when ecu was being built. his name is cuching – cat in japenese. he is thought to be between 23-29! and still walks,see’s, but has a bad memory about when it’s his fpood time!!!! he is a beautiful bright inteligent cat that is dearly loved

it is nice to see that there are others living along time. My cat Baby is 37. I got him as a baby back in 1970. I have been using Oct.31 as his Birthday, because he is black. He came to us in April. He was abused as a kitten. Kids had thrown him into a trash can, and were throwing fire crackers at him. To this day he runs and hides if any kids enter the house..
My “Bubby” was born on May 19th 1992. He was among several litters born to “Mama”, a stray that lived by my parents’ business. He is the most loving, accepting cat that I have ever met. I can’t believe I’ve been so lucky to have him for 15+ years. He’s still doing well; although he is a little arthritic. He’s been my furry little angel!
