Cat of the Week: Minnie Stein Staudt

Saturday July 7, 2007
Minnie was my boyfriend's ex-roommate cat. She travelled to Spain a year and a half ago and let the cat under the care of my boyfriend. Minnie and I got along from the beginning. Last year she lost the two kittens at birth and I was the only one there to call the vet and save her life. this experience brought us even closer. Now, she is my baby and my close friend. She is sweet and very talkative. But also has very strong personality. She loves biting my hand and play hide and seek around the house.

Here in the south of Brazil we are having a very hard winter. She likes to sleep next to me under the covers, or in her little bed I made for her next to mine. It's the first time I have a cat
and each day more I learn what incredible creatures they are, so smart and sensitive. I can't imagine my life without her now. Ah, she loves posing for pictures. I think she's a born top-model! Thanks and hello from down south in Brazil!

Cats Pictures of the Week are selected from general photo submittals. (I do not accept photos submitted specifically for "Cat Picture of the Week.") Minnie Stein Staudt's picture was submitted as a general photo. Coming on the "cusp" of the transition between bi-color cats and calico cats months, her picture seemed a natural, as she shows an inclination for each color pattern. Besides, I like the idea of an "international" cat for Cat of the Week. Cats are beautiful in every corner of our world, aren't they!

You may send your own photo, using the guidelines on the Photo Submittal page. Be sure to write a paragraph or so about the cat, at least two or three sentences. Remember that not only the quality of the picture, but the care you take in describing your cat may make the difference in its being chosen as Cat of the Week!

I think it’s wonderful that you helped her and now have a friend for life (hers not yours). I grew up around dogs and a mother that had a small fear of cats.
Cats reign supreme! dog onwers hate to hear this because they love to believe that dogs are superior. dogs are pack animals that love humans because it helps their superiority by accepting humans.
Cats love humans on different terms.
Oh well I do wax on!
I just lost a beloved cat of a young age 5=6 years due to HCM. Heart disease passed on by heredity. It has been devasting.
I have a new cat and he has been a god send. Although it has been a bag of mixed feelings cuz of the deep love of the lost cat.
You should love and cherish this cat.
Write me so we can talk.
I am in CA, USA

I am so in wonder of my two kittens. I too am a first time cat owner, and I cannot begin to tell you how awestruck I am. I always had a dog, and I loved my dogs. I have NEVER felt this way about a dog. They are so facinating.
thank you for saving her life. They are so needing of the human touch. We need to help them as much as we can.

Hi Fernanda and Minnie,! fernanda, you mad eny day…it’s so good to hear of a human being kind to a cat (and any other animal too). I have grown up with cats always around me and they are such a source of love, joy and laughter that I could not stand to be without them.
I wish you and minnie the best of health always and also many, many happy years together.
