Yard Sale Benefits Cats & Dogs
Are you a flea market/yard sale enthusiast? I once worked with a friend who had furnished and decorated her home exclusively with yard sale finds. She'd make up a list every Saturday, along with a map, bring a wad of cash (mostly small bills) and leave early, early in the morning to be among the first customers. You can find a lot of things for your cats at yard sales. Our cats' prized six-foot tower shown at right came from a church yard sale a few years ago. It had retailed for several hundred dollars and I'm embarrassed to admit what I paid for it.
Jace Shoemaker-Galloway, our Guide to Flea Markets, has blogged a great yard sale by Gananoque and District Humane Society in Ontario, for the benefit of homeless cats and dogs. What a fabulous idea for non-profit organizations!

Special thanks to Franny and to Jace for the blurb about yard sales as fundraisers for humane societies. I’m the volunteer publicity coordinator for the Gananoque & District Humane Society and I appreciate any and all mentions of our *no-kill* shelter.
Best regards,
Kim
Franny,
Thanks so much for posting this information on your wonderful website!
And thanks to Kim for all she does!
Thanks to both Kim and Jace for dropping by. Kim, I noticed that I had not correctly identified your organization, and I have corrected that, along with a link to your web site. Best wishes for a hugely successful yard sale tomorrow!
I love yard sales, too! I do the same thing, make a list, route it out using map quest and fill my fanny pouch with my ones and quarters. The last two years a rescue org. has had a big sale in my vets’ office parking lot. That is a FUN sale to go to! Gives you the thrill of buying things, finding bargains AND supporting a worthy cause!
