Focus on Cat Food
Many experts on cats believe that food and nutrition is the key to prime health and longevity for cats, and I concur with that belief. The old saying "you are what you eat" applies to cats as well as people. A diet of premium quality food, or a carefully prepared diet of raw meat and supplements will ensure supple muscles, strong bones, and a glossy coat.

All four of our cats eat Eagle Pack Holistic kitten/cat food (chicken flavor)for their dry food. I’d be interested in your opinion of that one, Franny.

All of my cats eat Innova EVO canned. I recently began giving them the venison formula and they all love it.
My cats get grocery store brand name cat food, mainly because it’s relatively inexpensive and easy to get. The new kitten, Buzz, now about 4 1/2 months old, will not eat dry food and eats 2 1/2 to 3 cans of 9 Lives a day. Is there any problem with feeding a cat only wet food?
My baby likes Iams very much, enjoys the tuna flavor can .Is that brand safe for her health?
Just heard from my local pet store that Eagle Pack and Wellness have been sold to a bigger company. The store is still stocking the food, but one of the employees said they’ve already noticed changes in the ingredient lists on some products. I had wondered if something was “off” about the last two bags of Eagle Pack Holistic I bought, because the litter box got a lot stinkier and there has been a slight increase in hairballs and plain vomiting (which we hadn’t had before except when Abby ate way too fast once in a while). I didn’t see any ingredient changes on our variety, but that doesn’t mean the proportions and/or quality of the ingredients haven’t changed.
I did some research and found out that both brands of food are under the company name of WellPet and for the last couple of years have been owned by a holding company (Berwind). I didn’t see anything about a new sale, but it may not be public information yet. At any rate, I’m looking into the new independent makers the pet store has begun to stock for all the pet parents who refuse to feed anything from a large corporation, and we’re trying Mike’s mom’s cat on Innova Senior. I’ll let you know what I find out in the process.
