About.com 2012 Readers' Choice AwardsAbout.com is celebrating its fifth year of the Readers' Choice Awards, and for the first time, the About.com Cats site will be participating by offering seven award categories. Nominations are open now, and all readers are encouraged to nominate their favorites in any or all of the seven categories. You may nominate up to five candidates for each category, with a very simple form. Nominations will continue until 02/15/12 at midnight.

Although nominations are held in confidence, you are also encouraged to campaign for your favorites on your own Websites or blogs, on message boards, and on social networking groups such as Facebook, Twitter, or Google+. The top five nominees in each category will then be selected, and then voting will start on 02/22/12, and will last one month. The winners of each category will be announced on 3/30/12, and then we'll partay!

You can learn more at the About.com's Readers' Choice Awards site.

Can’t nominate Franny? No point then.

How stupid! It’s an about.com poll, but we can’t nominate the best cat site because it’s an about.com site?

Rai and E, that’s very kind and loyal of you. However, this is not a poll. It is a series of awards About.com gives annually, and each Guide selects the categories he or she wants to include in that site’s awards. We are the *givers* of the awards, and as such, should not be allowed to participate on the receiving end.

I selected topics which are important to me. I could personally name at least three outstanding Websites which focus on declawing, for instance. But this is all about the *Readers’ Choice* so it will be interesting to see how it all plays out on March 30th. :)
