Chausie Breed Brief:
Like the Bengal, the Chausie is a selectively bred cat using "wild" stock. While the Bengal comes from the Asian Leopard Cat (Felis bengalensis), the Chausie is the result of breeding a domestic cat with a Jungle Cat (Felis chaus).
The first generation breeding (F1) is 50% each of domestic and "wild blood." Of particular interest is the fact that all F1 male Chausies are sterile, as well as most males from the second generation (F2).
Breed Organization:
Do you hunger for a touch of the wild in your cat? The Chausie may be the breed for you. Picture if you can, the grace, size, and exotic aura of a wild jungle cat, combined with the temperament of a domestic cat, and you have something resembling the Chausie.
Before purchasing a Chausie, check your state and local laws, as the cat is be considered a hybrid for the first three generations.
