Guide Review - Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul

Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul, the premium cat food with the fanciful name, has caused much excitement among feline enthusiasts. After several members of the About Cats Forum raved about this food, I decided to test it on my own GuideCats.

All four of our test cats love this food. I appreciated the manufacturer's integrity in not claiming "human grade meat." Coupled with a respectable list of ingredients, that's reason enough for this food to become a regular part of the feline diet in this household.

decent product but inconsistent quality, Member suzananne

With 4 rescue persians, I was looking for a quality food to compensate for the probability that they were fed poor quality food in their original homes. I read a lot of reviews and decided on this product. I bought a small starter bag and the cats loved it. I moved to the large 15 lb bag and again was very happy with the product - stayed with it for a few months. On one occasion, I bought a large bag and brought it home to find that the kibbles were all broken... as if it were the bottom of the batch. It was useless to my flat faced persians because they couldn't eat it. I returned it to the store and they had 2 more bags.. both were poor quality. The store owner offered to order another bag but it would take a few days and I was out of food. I bought a decent substitute and waited for the bag to come in. It came in but the quality seemed different.. dryer.. smaller pieces. This is a very pricey product and I decided that the lack of consistency and poor quality indicated that they ultimately didn't care. I switched to Science Diet and the cats are doing OK but their litter pan stinks and their fur lacks luster. I am searching for a new food now....
