![]() Poppy, Photo © Ayelet Levin This is Poppy. Poppy adopted me about two months ago. One day as I was walking up the stairs to my flat she came out of nowhere and started walking next to me and brushing herself against my ankles. As I opened the door to my flat she walked right in as if it was the most natural thing in the world. I gave her something to eat (tuna - it's still her favorite), and she stayed the night. It took some time, though, until she decided to stay for good. At first she would go out and I would sit at home wondering (and worrying) whether she will come back. But now she is here, she seems happy and she dosn't want to go out anymore. That's really good for me, because it means I don't have to worry about something bad happening to her outside. Poppy is still quite young, perhaps 5 or 6 month old. She likes to 'hunt' her toys, but also my shoe laces and pens. A big part of her day she spends sitting on the tv or the computer screen, looking out the window, and making strange noises at the birds outside. The rest of the day she sleeps, usually above the covers, but sometimes, as in the picture, underneath. She also likes to sleeps on my lap, providing I don't move too much. She is really pretty, all white, except for the ears, parts of her face, her tail and parts of her legs. She also has a black "beauty mark" on her chin. My sister says it looks like a beard. Like all cats, Poppy is a girl with an attitude, but she is also very friendly and cozy and fun. And yeah, I love her. Cats Pictures of the Week are selected from general photo submittals. (I do not accept photos submitted specifically for "Cat Picture of the Week.") Poppy's picture was a general photo submittal, and will be used in the May Picture Gallery (Black & White Cats). Poppy also won the vote for Cat of the Month for February. You may send your own photo, using the guidelines on the Photo Submittal page. Be sure to write a paragraph or so about the cat, at least two or three sentences. Our galleries have space for 2500 characters, including spaces, so don't be afraid to tell us about your cat within those parameters. Remember that not only the quality of the picture, but the care you take in describing your cat may make the difference in its being chosen as Cat of the Week! |
