![]() Starburst, Photo Credit: © Ron When my wife, Kathy, and I first moved into our mountain home, it was apparent there was a large feral cat population. I began to TNR. By the second year, there were few fertile ones left, but we knew there was still one black queen which was pregnant. I was working out of town when Kathy called to say there were six wild kittens in our yard with no sign of the mother. I told Kathy to put out food and water.
By the time I got home a week later, there were only three left and one of those disappeared before I could move them into the garage. The two remaining ones, a tuxedo cat and a tortie, were very wild. It took a long time to tame them down, but Starbust, the tortie, is now a confirmed lap cat and Tuck is the sweetest cat on earth.
Cats Pictures of the Week are selected from general photo submittals. Starburst's photo was submitted for - and also appears in the November Tortoiseshell Gallery. Ron and his cats, all rescues, are a perenniel favorite on the About Cats forum, and I love this photo of Starburst. I'm also a sucker for "feral to lapcat" stories. You may send your own photo, using the guidelines on the Photo Submittal page. Be sure to write a paragraph or so about the cat, at least two or three sentences. Our galleries have space for 2500 characters, including spaces, so don't be afraid to tell us about your cat within those parameters. Remember that not only the quality of the picture, but the care you take in describing your cat may make the difference in its being chosen as Cat of the Week! |
