| July: June Bug Calico cats represent the brilliant rainbow of colors in a sunny July day. Of all cat color patterns, Calicos are perhaps the loveliest with their tri-colored exuberance. Although most Calicos are females because of genetics, the rare male does sometimes pop up.
"She was rescued from a busy city intersection. I was debating which way to turn, so I hesitated and a tiny streak ran across in front of my car. So without thinking, I threw it in park and ran out to get her! She is living in our house and making herself quite comfortable. She gets along with last year's "street rescue," cat, Lizzie, who was submitted for the August album." June Bug's photo was sent by Amy. She's a cute as a little June Bug, for sure.

August: Candy & Cougar August is reserved for pointed cats, including Siamese, Himalayan, Birman, Ragdolls, and mixes thereof. For 2001, we get two-for-one in my August picks.
"Male and female (Candy & Cougar) purchased from as litter mates from an oriental family who had the parents and brought them from Thailand. Very intelligent cats who know how to retrieve toys and the male actually growls when the doorbell rings! They are the loves of my life and I am so fortunate to have found them," wrote Barbara, who sent this great photo.

| September September was originally intended to honor brown cats, however most brown cats fit within other months' categories (such as March Tabbies or August Pointed Cats). For that reason, there is no September photo for 2001. The new category for September, 2002 is "All non-pointed pedigreed cats." (

| October: Cricket October has almost always been known as Black Cat Month, and our photo calendar would not be complete without photos of sleek black cats. Picking just one of the lithe and lovely October cats was very difficult, but I was bewitched by these green eyes.
Cricket apparently had a venturesome life before she was luckily adopted by Cami. "Cricket is almost 2 years old. I adopted her a year ago from the humane society. She's extremely intelligent and only 5 lbs. When I adopted her, she had already been in 2 shelters, been a foster mother, and had a litter of her own, all before 10 months old!"

| November: Cleocatra November is perfect for Tortoiseshell cats, as Torties are clothed in the lovely colors of fall. Tortoiseshell cats, like calicos, are almost always female, and rare male "Torties" are almost always sterile.
"Cleo is a five-pound cat with fifty-pound personality" and lives with Elaine Stauff. "Now a year old, Cleo was adopted six months ago from a local shelter. She never stops moving except to sleep, has mock battles with invisible cats (as well as my other real ones), and is my 'velcro cat' the rest of the time," says Elaine.

| December: Pinpin December is for holidays and keeping in touch with friends and loved ones. It's also a great month for snuggling with your cat in front of a crackling fire, particularly if your cat mirrors the colors of the flames. And of course we can't forget that December is red for the color of Christmas stockings and Santa's suit, as well as the color of the flames on Chanukkah candles.
PinPin lives with Holly, who says, "PinPin is just a year old this month (Dec) and the love of my life. He adores snuggling, kissing, and sleeps with his head tucked under my chin every night. We have seven cats (all indoor cats - yes, daily vacuuming is mandatory) and I love them all but PinPin is my baby. As you can see from the picture, he wants to be the center of attention instead of the computer."
