When, Where and How I Got My Cat
Eva was adopted from a local shelter in 1998 and she was approximatley 2 years old at the time. I had just lost a female tortie tabby and had a black/white tuxedo male that I wanted to get a new playmate for. What I liked about Eva when I met her was her lack of fear. She wasn't overly friendly, but she was not afraid either, and considering she was in a shelter, I admired that quality about her. Plus the fact she was BEAUTIFUL! She has become another feline soul mate, she gives me strength and makes me laugh. She's now beginning to act like an old lady, but I love her to the ends of the Earth!
I'd Describe My Cat As…
Beautiful, funny, extremely sweet natured. Having had 2 other black and white bi-colors, I would have to say I'm very biased. They all seem to have a very gentle, loving nature. Eva is no exception. She has had a very young character from the beginning and probably will always act quite kittenish. Eva has had a few medical issues in the past 2 years but she's a fighter and has overcome a couple bouts with hepatic lipidosis. She is my hero!
Advice
- You get what you give - love your cat, touch your cat, talk to your cat, sleep with your cat, involve your cat in as much of your daily life as you possibly can. Let your kitty see and smell everything you bring into your house, play with your cat making homemade toys out of boxes and paper bags. My experience is that cats enjoy the most simple toys, versus all the bling from the pet stores. My cats love it when I drag them around on a rug on the hardwood floors, or in a box. Feed them only the best food and use litter that is healthy and non-toxic. Most of all, keep them inside, microchipped, collared and loved!
